Our Mission
At The Rehabilitation Center, our mission is to provide our community with outstanding patient care and quality rehabilitation programs. We manage patient care and provide services for education and community outreach. Through these programs, we contribute to our patients' independence and quality of life; the prevention and treatment of disease and disability; and the health of our community.

Our History
The Rehabilitation Center, Inc. was opened in 2001 after our owner Roberta E. Scharff, PT, saw a need for a community based physical therapy practice in her home town of more than twenty years. Roberta had been treating in the Princeton and East Brunswick area's and noticed that there were no physical therapy practices available to South Brunswick Residents. Therefore, she created The Rehabilitation Center, South Brunswick's first physical therapy practice! In 2006 Roberta expanded our practice and opened another Physical Therapy practice in Tinton Falls, NJ.

Roberta E. Scharff, PT / Owner NJ License# 40QA00445500 Physical Therapist
Roberta is a graduate of Northeastern University with Honors, and has over 30 years of experience in the field of physical therapy. She graduated from Northeastern University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, where she made the Dean's list and was a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society. She has an extensive resume treating patients with a wide variety of injuries and conditions. Roberta has been a resident of South Brunswick Township for over twenty years. Roberta is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Orthopedic, Geriatric & Private Practice Sections. Roberta is a member of the New Jersey Physical Therapy Association. Erin V. Kelly, PT, MPT NJ License#40QA01209300 Physical Therapist
Erin is a graduate of Quinnipiac University cum laude. She received a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Quinnipiac University in 2004, and a Masters of Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University in January 2006, where she made the deans list for 8 consecutive semesters and graduated with honors. Erin specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries. Erin evaluates and initiates programs using McKenzie technique, Maitland technique, lumbar stabilization programs, and utilization of Biodex rehabilitation equipment. She is a graduate of South Brunswick High School with honors and has been a resident of South Brunswick all her life. Erin joined our practice in 2006. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Erin is a member of the New Jersey Physical Therapy Association. Erin is CPR certified. STAFF
Jonathan M. Scharff Administrator
Jonathan is responsible for all billing, insurance issues, and practice management. He has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for over seven years. Jonathan is our resident "expert" on insurance issues, both Medicare and non-Medicare. Give him a call and he will guide you through the often complex insurance system that we all have to deal with. Jonathan has been a resident of South Brunswick Township for over twenty years. Jonathan is CPR and AED certified.
Jane Elia Office Manager
Jane is an office manager who is responsible for scheduling, billing and insurance verification. She has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for over three years. Jane has been a resident of South Brunswick Township for over nineteen years. Jane is CPR and AED cartified.
Janet Prendergast Physical Therapy Aide
Janet is a physical therapy aide who has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for over two years. Janet also works on the administrative side part-time in billing. Janet has been a resident of South Brunswick Township for over twenty-four years. Janet is CPR and AED certified.
Angela Ruiz Physical Therapy Aide
Angela is a physical therapy aide who has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for more than one year. Angela has been a resident of South Brunswick Township for over ten years. Angela is CPR and AED certified.
Cindy Bartley Physical Therapy Aide
Cindy is a physical therapy aide who also works part-time on the administrative side keeping your physician up to date on your progress with treatment. Cindy has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for more than one year.
Kerri Calandra Physical Therapy Aide
Kerri is a physical therapy aide who has worked for The Rehabilitation Center for one year. Kerri is a student at Middlesex County Community College majoring in Medical Technologies. Kerri has been a resident of South Brunswick Township all her life. Kerri is CPR and AED certified.
